We also place strong emphasis on intellectual independence. Lab members frequently have the opportunity to design and lead their own research projects, allowing them to develop original questions, guide experimental direction, and take ownership as primary investigators.

These experiences help build critical thinking skills, scientific creativity, and leadership confidence. Our trainees gain valuable experience presenting their findings, contributing to publications and ongoing research.

Our trainees excel across research and impact. They have earned Research Fellowships, Graduate Research Scholarships, Public Impact Fellowships, Data Science Research Opportunities, and Excellence Awards. Their work has also led to numerous publications in top journals, reflecting both academic rigor and innovative contributions.

We also actively partner with industry, community, and government organizations to bring research into real-world practice. These partnerships provide trainees with hands-on experience, mentorship, and opportunities to translate research into societal impact.

Together, our trainees and partners are advancing knowledge, driving innovation, and creating real-world impact that benefits communities and the industry!

Our Culture

In our lab, conversation drives discovery!

We believe that every voice matters, and everyone, including undergraduate students, graduate students and postdocs, are all encouraged to share ideas, ask questions, and challenge assumptions. Our lab fosters an environment where research discussions are open, respectful, and thought-provoking, helping ideas grow through collective insight.

Collaboration and mentorship are central to our culture. We support each other’s growth, whether through learning new techniques, giving feedback on presentations, or exploring interdisciplinary research opportunities. Our goal is to cultivate a lab community that is inclusive, curious, and engaged.
